The charming village, Almyrida is only a short drive (30 min.) from the city center of Chania town and Chania international airport (40 min.).

Here, everything is set for a quiet and relaxed holiday with sunbathing on the lovely sandy beach, which has been awarded with EU's blue flag for its cleanliness, or if you like an active vacation with watersports, boat trips, hiking, small walks, bicycling etc. 

The village of Almyrida has a small center with several nice tavernas, beach bars, cafes, bakeries, butcher, pharmacy, grocery stores, jewelry, souvenir shops, ATMs, car hire companies and various other nice small shops, all of which are open till late at night in the high seasons. Here you'll find most of what you need in daily holiday life.


Diving

Omega Diving Center, is a PADI 5 Star Diving Resort which offers recreational diving and courses for novice and experienced divers maintaining the highest possible standards of diver safety and education. The diving center is ideally located in the center of Almyrida village only a short walk from our villas.

Hiking & Biking

Just ourside the door you have a great opportunity to explore the area by foot or on the bike. Almyrida is a very good starting point if you wish to explore the Apokoronas area with its beautiful views, secluded beaches and the small ancient villages. Bikes are available for rent in Almyrida. If you wish to join a guided tour we can help you to book with one of the experienced tour operators.

Chania

Chania includes the old and the new town and is one of the most beautiful and picturesque cities in Greece and is absolutely worth a visit. Take a walk along the narrow streets in the Old Town or visit the Venetian Harbour, the Lighthouse, museums, churches and craft shops with local products. The atmosphere has a touch of Florence and Venice, combined with the culture and character of Cretan people and traditions.

Knossos

Knossos is the site of the most important and better known palace of Minoan civilization. According to tradition, it was the seat of the legendary king Minos. The Palace is also connected with thrilling legends, such as the myth of the Labyrinth with the Minotaur, and the story of Daidalos and Icaros. You can plan an one day trip to Heraklion (about 1,5 hour by car ~ 150km ) to visit Knossos, wander around in Heraklion and come back in the evening.

Non motorized water sport like katamarans, pedalos, kayaks and windsurfing is available for rent at the beach in Almyrida.

If you like to play tennis, we can help you to book a tennis court nearby. They also have equipments for rent, in case you don't want to bring your own tennis racqet for your holiday.

Elafonissi beach

This papadise-like beach is one of Crete's most visited beaches and absolutely worth a visit! It is located in the southwesternmost tip of Crete, about 2 hours drive from Almyrida. The crystal clear tourquise water and the pinkish sandy beach brings this to a spectacular and beautiful area with lagoons and may remind you of a Creibbean beach.
